Copies of Recorded Real Property Documents can be requested in person or by mail. We do not accept requests for copies of Recorded Real Property Documents by phone, fax, email, or online.

Please be sure the information you supply is complete and accurate. If you request a copy of an official record, we must do a search to find that record. If we find nothing, we are not able to refund the fee. The California Statutes require us to retain the fee as a search fee.

Payment may be made by check or money order payable to Kern County Recorder; for in-person requests, you may also pay in cash. Do not send cash by mail.

• The Document (or Instrument) Number. Include the Book and Page number if the document has one.
• The Recording Year
• The Name of at least one of the parties named in the document
• The Type of Document
• The Name and Address of the person or agency to whom the copies are to be returned
• The number of pages in the document (The Recorder doesn't need this information, but you will need it in order to calculate the fees.)

If ordering by mail, a check or money order for the full amount payable to Kern County Recorder, and a self-addressed stamped envelope must accompany the required information. Do not send cash.

• $0.50 for each 8 ½" × 11" page after the first page of a document
• $0.50 for certification under seal (additional fee per document)
